Abstract : Extractive electrospray ionization of 1-hydroxypyrene (1-OHP) is achieved by using non-polar solvents (e.g., benzene, toluene, xylene, pentane and hexane) as the primary ESI solvent. The extraction of 1-OHP from various polar sample solutions by a non-polar primary ESI solvent is identified and 1-OHP ionization efficiency strongly depends on the sample solution.
